Being a Resource for Fine Art Collectors: Our Mission Statement .

Art is universal. In some way shape or form, knowingly or not, everyone appreciates art on some level. Architecture, street art, digital design, photography, film, fine art, jewelry, leather work, pottery, sculpture and the list goes on...there is something for everyone. With so much interest in such a varied subject, it can be difficult and even intimidating for one to push through the crowd and find, appreciate, and even purchase the artwork that they truly love.

Collectors, especially, are turned off from attending gallery openings because these events are often used as vehicles for people to obtain the free wine and beer provided and to mingle with their friends in a nice space. The art on the walls becomes secondary, or even ignored altogether, and the artist, probably someone incredibly talented who worked long and hard on their exhibition, goes home feeling defeated. I can say this from experience, having seen this from every angle - the artist, the curator of a gallery, a random attendee who wants free booze, and a buyer. I've done it all.

This blog exists in order to facilitate the finding of quality fine art for collectors and enthusiasts. It also functions as a forum for discussing art in general, with a focus on Houston artists in particular. It is written and maintained by Amber Crain, who is a gallery curator, painter and radio dj living and working in the Houston Area. Trusted guest writers will be brought in frequently to share their views and findings.

The goal is to showcase and discuss high quality fine art for those who truly consider the purchase of fine artwork to be an investment - the collectors. This guide will visually bring the fine art to the buyer (along with the information needed to find and buy the works) and will be an excellent resource for collectors both within and outside the Houston area. In turn, it will also serve to highlight some of the amazing artists within the vibrant Houston art community.
